Bento set catering

Bento sets, and what separates the price levels

Four levels from $7 to $20 per pax. What changes between them is the selection, not the size of the box.

Bento set with beef rendang, rice and sides packed for delivery in Singapore

More money buys a better box, not a bigger one

This is the question people ask most about bento sets and the answer is unglamorous: every set is a three-course box with a main, sides and rice. A $20 set is not larger than a $9 set. It is a more premium selection of dishes.

What does change with price is the minimum headcount, and it runs backwards from intuition: $20 from 12 pax, $12 from 20, $9 from 25, $7 from 35. The cheapest set needs the most people, because a kitchen only reaches that rate at volume.

So the practical way to choose is to start from your headcount, see which sets are open to you, and pick on selection from there. The planner does exactly that — tell it your number and it shows only what you can actually order.

  • Four price levels

    $7, $9, $12 and $20 per pax, each a complete three-course box.

  • Minimums run backwards

The cheaper the set, the more people it needs.

  • Delivery included

At every level, at every headcount.

  • Halal and vegetarian

Available across the levels, at the same prices.

Before you order

How ordering works

  • Book early for popular dates

Our cutoff is one day before your event. In practice, order earlier: festive periods, year-end parties and weekend slots fill up well ahead, and booking early secures both your slot and the dishes you want.

  • Delivery $30

For mini buffet and bento orders, islandwide, and free on promotional menus above $225.

  • Individually packed, ready to hand out

Every meal comes boxed with cutlery, so there is nothing to set up and nothing to collect afterwards. Hand them out and get on with your event.

  • Changes up to 24 hours before

Adjust your headcount, menu or timing more than 24 hours before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.

Additional charges may apply for outlying areas (Tengah, Lim Chu Kang, Tuas, Sentosa, Changi Airport and Alps Avenue), deliveries before 10am or after 7.30pm, and venues without lift access. Every charge is confirmed in your quotation before you pay. See full terms.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a $7 and a $20 bento set?

The selection of dishes, not the amount of food. Both are a three-course box with a main, sides and rice. The $7 set also needs 35 people; the $20 set starts at 12.

Why does the cheaper menu need more people?

Because the per-pax price covers preparing and packing every box individually, and a kitchen only reaches the lowest rates at volume. So the tiers run backwards from what people expect: $20 from 12 pax, $12 from 20, $9 from 25, $7 from 35. A group of fifteen cannot order the $7 menu at any price — the cheapest rate open at that headcount is $20.

Is delivery free?

Delivery is free on mini buffet and bento orders of $225 or more before GST. Below that it is $30, and a 10 pax order always carries the fee whatever the order comes to. On the entry-level mini buffet menus $225 is reached at 15 pax. A buffet with setup instead carries a $90 setup fee, charged once per order, which covers delivery, laying out the buffet line and collecting the equipment afterwards. Remote postal codes, deliveries at 9.59am or earlier or 7.31pm or later, and venues without lift access can add a surcharge on top; every one is published and appears in your quotation before you confirm.

Can bento be halal?

Yes. Halal bento menus come from Muslim-owned stalls, and halal-certified menus are available through our partnering vendors on request. Select halal in the menu planner and only halal menus are shown to you.

Do bento boxes stay warm?

They are packed and closed rather than held on a warmer, so they hold their own heat for a reasonable window after delivery. For food that has to stay hot for hours, a buffet with chafing stands is the format that does that.

How far in advance should I order catering?

The latest we can take an order is one day before your event. We recommend booking earlier than that: popular dates such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Christmas and the year-end party season are taken weeks ahead, and ordering early secures your slot and the dishes you want. For large events, the earlier the better.

Is there a delivery fee?

What is included with the food?

Mini buffet orders are drop and go: the food arrives in insulated warmer bags that are yours to keep, with serving gear, cutlery, plates, bowls, a disposable table cloth and a trash bag, so you can bag everything up and bin it after your event. Bento meals come individually boxed with cutlery. Buffet with setup includes a skirted table and cloth, warmers, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, and our team returns to collect the equipment.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, with more than 24 hours' notice before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.
